I now have four sets of different types of ice cube trays, after searching for something that doesn’t drive me crazy in some way. These are finally my answer, and they are nearly perfect. The cubes are approximately 1” on each side; I’d feared they would be too small and melt too fast, but they are exactly the right size for drinks and for blending in a morning smoothie. They release from the molds easily with a solid push from the bottom; the molds are more firm at the top for stability and softer on the bottom to make popping the cubes out easy. A tip: Release the corner cubes last so that the tray is more flexible and can be twisted a bit. They are compact and fit in very little space in my freezer. I’m able to stack three on top of each other so I get 45 ice cubes with each batch, more than enough for a couple of days’ use. The cubes are clear and do not pick up odors from the freezer because of the covers on each tray. There’s a lot of complaint about silicone trays eventually developing a bad smell, but these meet a higher standard than merely “food quality”; they have no additives that can release an odor, as some cheaper silicone does. I have no complaints at all about these; I think I’ve found the ice trays of my dreams.used this to freeze homemade applesauce and sweet potato for my baby. worked great!These ice cube trays are wonderful! Taue so dann immer 2 oder 3 Würfel gemüse auf und gebe restliche Zutaten frisch dazu.Dadurch dass sich die Flüssigkeit beim einfrieren logischer Weise ausdehnt und ich den brei mit einem spartel bis unter die kanten Fülle hebt sich bei mir der silikondeckel beim frieren an. Habe also sowieso immer eine tüte drumrum die ich mit einem clip sichere damit kein gefrierbrand entsteht. Kann wenn alles durchgefroren ist die würfel direkt in den beutel raus drücken und so im froster aufbewahren. Das geht auch mit dem brei total gut. Kann ich für diesen Zweck also absolut empfehlen. In meinem Fall nur immer mit der tüte da die Form sonst nicht abdichtet und ich bei Babynahrung kein Gefrierbrand riskieren will.
