The 3M PPS system is the greatest advancement in spray painting in many years. It solves so many nagging problems:1. Gets rid of the paint cup, which is a true pain to clean2. The sealed liner collapses like a bag in a baby formula bottle. This means you can turn the gun at any angle without drips or venting. This may be its best feature.3. The sealed, collapsing liner means you can put a cap on the cup to store paint temporarily (say, overnight).4. You can either clean and reuse the liner and filter/top quick disconnect adapter, or throw it away. I clean it if I'm spraying water based clear coatings or clear solvent-based coatings that clean easily. Got maybe 6-7 uses out of a 6-oz unit. If the paint is just too messy, throw it away. Shot some black Rustoleum today and just didn't want a ton of black paint thinner to deal with. By throwing the cup away, I only had to clean the gun's throat and air cap. Took about 2-3 ounces to clean the gun. And talk about quick. Cleaning that darned cup takes the most time. Eliminate cleaning the cup and it's a quick job. I put the thinner in a 4-oz squeeze bottle to dispense the thinner into the gun's throat. No muss, no fuss. This 10-cup kit works out to about $4.30 per cup. A little steep but convenience has a price. If you're using your own gun, you'll have to buy a stainless steel adapter to put on the gun that the PPS attaches to with a quarter turn. Get the adapter here for your particular gun -- 3M 16003 PPS Adapter 2You also must purchase the 22 oz. PPS Mixing Cup and Collar. These flexible liners need to go inside a reusable, sturdier structure. 3M PPS Mixing Cup and Collar, Standard, 22 ounce (650 mL), 16001. Another $28.I don't know what I was thinking buying these lids/liners and the cup/collar separately. Should have simply purchased the 3M kit. 6 liners and lids like these and the outer cup/collar for way less. 3M 16172 PPS Starter Kit, (Pack of 6) (Standard Size 22 fl. oz. 6-Pack Lid and Liner, 1 Cup and Collar with 200 Micron Filters) by PPSI really like the 6-oz mini cup for small jobs, but just got these Standard ones too, for larger jobs. The Standard is 22 ounces -- 2/3 of a quart. It's bigger than I thought. And there's one larger size available too.My first, 6-oz, kit came with small red plastic caps that I can put on the liner cups. This Standard, 10 cup/lid set did not have any caps. The caps are helpful if you want to take the cup off the gun, clean the gun and store the paint in the cup overnight.Great system.
